In a dark underground space from Geelong's industrial past, 15 artists created an immersive environment of sounds, sights and spectacles. Responding to the site at Classweave Mills, a murky and hidden space, the artists of Subculture created a series of installations and experiments that went beneath the surface, literally and metaphorically.
From soundscapes, projections, installations, paintings and sculpture, Subculture presented new work on the theme of the underground.
Subculture is sponsored by the NAVA Visual and Craft Artists' Grant, managed by NAVA with financial assistance from the Visual Arts/Craft Board of the Australia Council, the Simpson-Michel foundation and Pat Corrigan.
